Severe laryngeal sarcoidosis in a child managed by intralesional steroid, debulking, and methotrexate

Laryngeal sarcoidosis is a rare condition, particularly in the pediatric population. Acute airway intervention may be required severe cases, but guidelines to support therapeutic strategy are absent. Moreover, evidence regarding systemic therapy scarce. This encouraged us report result of management and methotrexate at one-year follow-up child with laryngeal sarcoidosis. A 14-year-old Caucasian female presented dyspnea, dysphagia, hoarseness. Fiberoptic laryngoscopy revealed profound swelling epiglottis arytenoid regions. was suspected, direct laryngoscopy, including biopsies, cold steel debulking, intralesional corticosteroid injections, performed secure airway. Histology compatible sarcoidosis, long-term prescribed. At follow-up, patient asymptomatic, fiberoptic demonstrated near complete remission.
